I packed up all of my old video games, sold them and purchased my first electric guitar.

While hanging out with the talented electric guitarist Juan "Rezy" Pérez, he candidly opens us about what got him into music, what he would be doing if he wasn't a musician and more. Juan has a sense of humor, but he's also dead serious about his passion for music. Let's learn more about him.

Let's take it back to where it all began. What got you into music?

The band Blink 182. I wanted to be them when I was 13. I packed up all of my old video games, sold them and purchased my first electric guitar and I never looked back. They're still one of my favorite bands to this day.

If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing right now?

I'm thinking that I would've became a pastry chef. I enjoy baking and I'm a super creative person. One of my favorite baking quotes by the Baking Tips community says: "A recipe is just a recipe until a baker comes along to make it—pouring a little bit of their passion, creativity, and love into it."

Whenever I find the time, I'm always baking something. My brother is my taste tester. He turns it into an event. It's hilarious.

I know that the particular genre of music that you play is jazz fusion. Have you ever experimented with playing a different genre?

Actually, yeah. I dabble with the acoustic guitar. I've attempted to play Blues. Now, I'm not sure I was successful at it but I have experimented with it.

Looking further down the road in regards to your current profession, what does the future for you look like. Do you have a definite plan, an indefinite plan?

Since outside has somewhat opened back up, I've been working with a new manager to setup some live performances. Obviously, we would follow the health guidelines. It wouldn't be anything big. Just some small performances here and there. I really miss human connection and it's nice when I'm able to help people have a good time without worrying about the problems of the world, even if it's only for 2 hours.

I'm also about to work with a new producer soon. So look out for new music this year.

If you can have your fans remember one thing about you, what would it be?

The one thing they should remember about me is that, yeah I might be a musician but I can also make a mean chocolate chip cookie.
