I feel like I stand apart from the entire mainstream music scene in the Balkans — and that always makes the journey harder.

Nero Project is a unique artist from Serbia, known for his versatility and dedication to his work. As one of the few, if not the only, singer/producer from the Balkans who releases every song in both Serbian and English, he truly stands out in the music scene. His music is a blend of various genres, reflecting his ability to create a diverse range of sounds. From upbeat tracks like “McLaren / Cash (Medley)” to more introspective songs like “I’m The One”, Nero Project showcases his ability to cater to different musical tastes.

Where are you from originally? When did you choose to become a singer

I’m from Serbia/Europe, but through my music, I aim to expand beyond the Balkan Peninsula, where people mostly speak the same language and listen to local songs. That’s why, from the very beginning, I started practicing and improving my English, and I’m still working on it today — so I can touch listeners’ hearts around the world through both my composition and lyrics so people could understand me.

I enjoy making pasta. Little known fact. What’s your hobby?

I have several hobbies besides music, which is my number one passion. From composing and creating beats, to writing lyrics, arranging, and producing — it’s something that truly drives me, and I genuinely enjoy every part of it.I also love snowboarding — for me, it’s an adventure that gives me a rush of adrenaline, and I could do it all day long.I also enjoy playing video games on my PlayStation 5. It helps me disconnect from reality, and I enjoy stepping into the role of a hero, a fast car driver, taking part in competitions, and connecting with other gamers.

You have a very classic style, does fashion play a part in your creative story?

Yes, definitely. At the moment, my budget is very limited, but I have a lot of ideas on how to incorporate fashion into my music and performances. I’m giving it my all and hoping to reach a level where I can invest properly in fashion and bring my true vision of myself to stage — a vision that is strongly connected to style. I even mention popular fashion brands in some of my songs, like in the track “Adrenalin.”

Speaking from experience, I know there are plenty of obstacles and challenges I have faced throughout my professional career. Has it always been a smooth road for you? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way that you faced and how did you overcome them?

No, I don’t have a smooth road — I face all kinds of challenges. There are issues that hold me back from fully building my image, and for now, I have little control over them until I reach a higher level of visibility. I’ve been shadow-banned on most social media platforms, mainly due to competition and the influence of agencies that sabotage artists who aren’t part of their circle — and that’s something that frustrates me the most. Besides that, I still need to invest a lot into my studio. I’m gradually upgrading my equipment to be able to deliver the sound quality my listeners truly deserve. Also, I feel like I stand apart from the entire mainstream music scene in the Balkans — and that always makes the journey harder. Trying to break through with my sound and genre here is a real challenge. I believe there’s a lot of potential, but it requires massive effort and financial investment.

What’s on your 2025 ‘career to-do’ list?

My 2025 career to-do list starts with finishing my 3rd album. I’m currently working on the final chapter of Album 3, and 4 new songs are already in production. Once that’s done, I plan to invest in better vocal production equipment and fix the mistakes I’ve noticed across Albums 1, 2, and 3.After that, I’d love to find a label or investor with a solid reputation so I can take things to the next level with Album 4. I also dream of performing at Eurovision, Oscars, Coachella and other big international festivals. It might sound impossible, but that’s been my dream since I was a child.
